RE: Converter Question

Fan running is not "bogging down". Fan running just means you are consuming enough 12 volt power that it needs to run the fan for cooling. The fan will come on at about 10 to 20% of capacity.
Correct. However, the fan alomost sounds like it wants to die .... the fan slows down and then speeds up (I.E. boggs down) but slows way down ..... sounds sick to me ...L.O.L.

RE: Converter Question

Its a rev'ing sound ..... Im sitting here right now at the table and the converter is making no noise... the fan is not on but as soon as I turn on the light above the table it starts to make noise. The fan turns on and starts bogging down...... Hmmm I wish I could explain better ..... Sorry

RE: Converter Question

Not to many rigs here right now. However, if I shut off just 1 light the converter stops making noise, it stops bogging down.

Converter Question

Question: we are at full hook up right now and when we have more than 3 lights on and the fridge on auto; the converter boggs down. Is this normal?
You might ask what do you mean by boggs down: Well it almost sounds like going to die. Let me try to explain more .... it speeds up and slows down (the converter fan) I'm guessing the convterter has a fan..... right?
Let me know if this makes sence.

RE: Best Leveling for Tandem Axle?

Find the link in this forum (around page 8-11) and find how to build Level-Aires. These are air bags that you can make. Each air bag (2) is placed under each wheel, then you inflate both bags at the same time. I just inflate until my wife, which is inside the camper with a flat bubble level inside the refrigerator says thats good, and your all set! I made/built these and they work great!! You can level your TT from side to side easily and exact. No more carrying wood planks or leveling blocks. These are cool!!
What happens if they were to leak air after your stabilizers are out and the slide is out as well? Could it not twist the frame? What if it happened at 3:00am ,,,,, that would stink !!!:E
Just askin ...;)

Well you are absolutely correct...
However, these air bags are just an added risk of deflation. I’m not trying to put them down or come across that they are a bad thing to have.
They are however a very ingenious tool to have and don’t take up a lot of space to carry around..

RE: corrosion and soft spots underneath traillite bantam

says your from the midwest? Where about? Could be rust and the water could be coming in through places it's rusted.
If it has water damage and mold has started to grow the a deal killer it would be.
However, if it's water that someone spilled and didnt get cleaned up then that's a different story.
Wifes tend to smell better than husbands do. If you are married have your wife sniff around for anything that would smell like mold.
walk around the inside of the trailer and press many spots with your hands along the edges and feel if the floor is weak.
Good Luck !

RE: outside stove top

I have a 04 starcraft travelstar. It has a gas line run for an outside stove top. Where could I buy one of these?
Where can you find what? The hose or the stove
Camping World sells stoves and they have hoses as well.

RE: Did you go from Coleman/Fleetwood to hybrid?

My suggestion would be to stop by your local dealer and spend 30 minutes checking one out. See for yourself first hand how easy it is to lower and make the beds. It takes DW and I about 5 minutes to lower and make three beds on our HTT.

RE: Biscuit bottom burning

They make very small stoneware that should fit in the oven. This should take care of the sticking issue. You could purchase through pampered chef. DW uses stoneware on everything :W. Stoneware cooks evenly where metal pans only heat from the sides and the bottom.
Look here for very nice stoneware

RE: Hard Slide

Maybe any slide out the front or the back is a Hybrid.
I dont think so.
Hybird means mixture of two items..
I.E. a travel trailer (fully inclosed) & PopuP (tent ends) = Hybird
So if the trailer doesnt have tent ends it's NOT a Hybird.

RE: Bump in Fiberglass Finish

We had a dimple in the right rear corner of our trailer.
The dealer sad it might get worse if not repaired.
So under warranty the dealer performed a fiberglass repair in that spot and installed a new swish sticker over the repair so you would have never known.

RE: Hard Slide

What you are refering to is an expandable TT vs. a Hybird TT.
An expandable TT is NOT a Hybird TT.
Yes HTT's can and do leak. However, not all do (Mine has never leaked).
This is what an expandable looks like .....

An expandable IS A HYBRID. If you think it is not, you'd better call Jayco. The Jayfeather EXP stands for EXPANDABLE, and the Jayfeather line includes hybrids with expanding tent ends AND hard slides.
As for what the OP asked, I'll offer the following:
1) Hard sides are nice for the simple fact you get more trailer in a shorter unit. Why pull 80" extra trailer down the road when you can slide it in over the dinette when pulling it? You can't sit in the trailer when pulling it, right? (see the following).
2) Hard slides unfortunately most of the time slide in over a dinette, so if you like to pull off at the rest area when traveling and have lunch, you'll have to slide out the slide. Most of the time, impractical and a pain.
3) Hard slides eliminate the need to turtle in storms because there is no canvas to get wet. Slide it out in the rain, slide it back in in the rain. No folding it out to dry t out after you get home from your trip.
4) Hard slides usually have less room for the mattress than the tent end counterpart. Jayco, for example has a queen bed in their hard slides that is 74" long X 60" wide. The tent end queen is 80" long X 60" wide. For a guy like me at 6'-5", it means alot.
5) Hard slides also have less head room, so when you have to climb over your sleeping partner (because most hard slides you sleep widthwise and you need to crawl out over your partner), you may feel like you are crawling out of a tunnel. See #7 below for the exception. Also the "box" of a slide out may make you feel a bit enclosed because it is kind of a stuffy box.
6) Hard slides do not offer the ventilation and open air feeling tent end expandables do. The typically have a window or two and only a portion of each window in the slide open. The tent expandable opens up fully for free air. It even lets the forest sounds in like birds, but also noisy drunken blurts.
7) The real exception to the hard slide rule is the KZ Spree. They offer a hard slide in a King Bed, but you sleep lengthwise in the slide. Not only do you have some real room, but there is no need to crawl out over your partner to get out. You simply back out because both sleepers feet are pointing into the body of the trailer.
These are a few. I tried to post earlier, but the forum glitched me out. Good luck.
I agree with Bumpy .....
This 5th wheel has a hard slide out bed ... so does this mean it's a Hybird also ???
